I am generally not that interested in New Year resolutions and this year is no different. I really don't see the point in them. If you want to do something do it. If you don't then, well don't. I guess the level of my enthusiasm for this topic is borne out by the fact that I started writing this post on Jan 1, and it is now the 3rd. So, I am not making resolutions for the New Year but I do have some things I will do this year. 2012 was gruelling on many levels. It's a year I will happily put behind me and look forward. Indeed, if the world had ended on Dec 21st, I would have been mightily pissed that it ended after such a crap year. Maybe, just maybe, that would have been appropriate though.
So in 2013 I will be building on what brings me pleasure in life. I will be further developing my NZSL language and want to end the year very proficient in conversation. Linked to this, I want to spend more time with my deaf friends and build deeper relationships in the deaf community.
Also, I will continue In My Chair as a means of building it's exposure and content and also developing my skills in podcasting. Along side this, I am going to start a second podcast that will be library related. The audience and focus area will be for people working in libraries and I will interview notable people within the profession. I am conscious that the main limitation of "In My Chair" is the lack of a focus area, other than a person.
The Comfy Chairs, of course, also continues and I want to make sure during 2013, we perform more and get to develop our repertoire. We have a great core of style and song and this is evident when we play a shorter set of our best stuff. We need to build on this I think and develop our own original material further.
So there are my Not New Year Resolutions. I'll leave being a better person to others. I have met plenty of better persons and they always get boring very quickly.
